If a Savior leaves you as you are and where you are, from what has He saved you? – Rev. Denny Brake

Remember those terrariums in science class? The little butterfly houses? We used to watch the butterflies crawl into a cocoon for three months and then come out as a caterpillar. Right? Wrong! The caterpillars went into a cocoon and came out changed into butterflies.

Just like the butterfly, when we accept the free gift of salvation, the Spirit comes in and begins to transform us from the inside out. The same way a butterfly cannot go back into its cocoon and return to its former life as a caterpillar, we cannot go back to being our old selves.

God doesn't glue wings onto a caterpillar to make it a butterfly. Rather, it is a miracle that cannot be reversed;; just as salvation is a miracle that cannot be reversed. Salvation is God completely, miraculously, radically transforming me. Transforming you. It's non-reversible.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation is come: The old has gone, the new is here!2 Corinthians 5:17

Salvation comes about by a new birth.

Jesus replied,"Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." – John 3:3

It's not that something was added to your old sinful self, just like wings and legs aren't simply attached to a butterfly. You were changed. Your old self was done away when you died with Christ on the cross. You were raised as a new creation in Christ.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. – Romans 6:4

That's incredibly good news! This transformation cannot be reversed!

My God! Thank You for Your miracle of salvation. Thank You that I have been born again and don't have to go back to being the old me. I pray for my friends now who don't know You. May my new creation be easily seen. May they see You in me. Open their hearts and minds to You, so that they too will experience Your miracle of regenerative salvation. Amen.
