HOW MUCH MORE!
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:11
One day I was recently flipping channels on the TV and came across the movie titled, Radio. It is a heartwarming, true story of a head football coach who befriends a man with special needs and makes him part of the football team. In one scene, Radio is eating at a diner with Coach Jones. At the end of the meal, Coach Jones asks about dessert. The waitress says, "We have peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler." Coach Jones says, "What will it be, Radio, peach or blackberry?" Radio answered boldly, "Both!" Coach Jones smiled and bought him both!
I think that far too many Christians fail to see that God is a God who likes to load us down with blessings. He is not the God of barely enough; He is the God of more than enough. He is the God of "both" and "how much more." He is the God who delights "to do exceeding abundantly beyond all we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20). What an awesome, wonderful God we serve.
DON'T LEAVE BLESSINGS ON THE TABLE
I had someone e-mail me some time ago. In the e-mail, this person was lamenting her lot in life. I remember her forlornly saying, "I don't ask God for much, so I would think he would answer my little prayer." I wrote her back and said, "That is your problem. Your prayers lack faith. You need to start asking God for MUCH!"
One of my favorite poems says this:
You are coming to a King,
Large petitions with you bring,
For His grace and power are such,
No one can ever ask too much.
Remember this: God likes it when we believe Him for BIG things. He likes it when we pray God-sized prayers and trust Him for God-sized miracles. That shows God we think He is able. That shows God we believe He is indeed a good God who delights to give even more than what we ask, just like His Word tells us.
What do you need today from the King of all kings? What miracle do you need from the God in whom nothing is impossible? Ask Him for the full amount of the need, and then some. The King wants to give you diamonds, not dimes. He wants you to abound in miracles as you trust Him for big things each day. Do you believe that? If not, reread Mathew 7:11, "How much more shall your Father in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!"
