Does He then, who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among
you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?
When I was a kid growing up, I remember a popular commercial for Wolf Brand Chili. In the commercial, the announcer asked the audience, "When is the last time you had a big steaming bowl of Wolf Brand Chili? Well, that's too long!"
Now, before we get too nostalgic, let me ask you this question: "When is the last time you experienced a miracle from God?" If your answer is like most people's, than that's too long!
A MIRACLE WORKING GOD
God is the God of might and miracle. There is nothing too difficult for Him. He loves to show us "great and mighty things which we do not know" (Jer. 33:3). He loves to do the impossible so that all may marvel and come to believe that He really is the Sovereign King who saves and transforms.
The Bible is full of wonderful, miraculous stories... from David slaying Goliath to Paul raising the dead. The God who worked all these miracles in the past... still works miracles today! As one man told me, "God has not lost His recipe for manna!" And the good news is that He wants to work miracles in you and me.
The truth of the matter, however, is that most people do not see many miracles in their lives. Why is that? It is because of one main problem... UNBELIEF! Unbelief clogs the pipeline of God's mighty power flowing in and through our lives. Unbelief calls God a liar... and God does not like that too much. As He said of the unbelieving Jews who would not take the Promised Land, "As I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest" (Heb. 4:3).
DON'T DOUBT IT!
In His hometown of Nazareth, Jesus could do very few miracles there because of the people's unbelief (Mk. 6:5-6). They "took offense at Him" and doubted His ability. As a result, He left Nazareth and went to other villages to teach and transform lives, performing mighty miracles all along the way. How sad that the people of Nazareth missed the amazing things the Lord wanted to do... all because of unbelief.
THE TIME IS NOW
The time is now for you to start believing God. Read His Word and believe what He says. That simple act - believing what God says - is what the Bible calls "faith." You would be amazed at the miracles that would spring up in your life if you would:
Believe God and start honoring Him from your wealth (Mal. 3).
Believe God and start forgiving that person who wronged you (Matt. 18:35).
Believe God and start seeking Him in prayer and Bible study each day (Jer. 29:13).
Believe God and start living by what He says, not what you see (2 Cor. 5:7).
Believe God and start speaking words of life, not words of death (Prov. 18:21).
Believe God and start obeying His clear commands (Jn. 14:21).
My friend, I am convinced that God wants to work miracles of restored relationships... miracles of victory over sin... miracles of financial provision.... and miracles of emotional and spiritual healing. He is waiting on you and me to simply take Him at His word and believe Him for supernatural works as we walk humbly with Jesus.
Remember what He said in Matthew 7:11, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!" Your miracle is nothing more than the Father giving what is good to those who love Him, ask Him, and believe Him!!
