Broken Pots Wanted
Who can stand proud, arrogant, gas-filled witnesses for Christ? I don’t like listening to them and neither do you. However, I sure don’t mind humility. I will pay attention when someone is willing to admit, “I’ve been a bozo and a fool, but God showed mercy on me. It is my pleasure to share that mercy with you.”
That’s why God uses broken pots like you and me. Your flaws, cracks, stains, and chips don’t disqualify you. In fact, people who can testify about God’s mercy shown to the unworthy sound a lot more refreshing than someone who pretends never to have sinned.
Here is the truth: “Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions” (Ephesians 2:4,5). It was for just such a sinner as you that Christ came, for just such a time as right now. This is the soundtrack that you can have playing in your life. You can accept and even like yourself because your worth to God isn’t based on your performance.
The grace message in your ears will also help you to be less judgmental about the chips and flaws in the other “pots” in your life.
