In the Secret Place

These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.  These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.  And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God. - Revelation 14:4-5

The Bible speaks of those in heaven who follow the Lamb wherever He goes (see Revelation 14:4).  That should be said of us.  We should be like Simeon with the Holy Spirit upon him and like Anna who departed not from the temple.

You remember the prophet Elijah who went into the court of Israel's most wicked king, Ahab?  Elijah came out of the wilderness, out of complete obscurity, and walked into the court with incredible courage and said to the king and queen, "As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word" (1 Kings 17:1).  Then he did an about-face and walked out.  And the king and queen thought, Where did this guy come from?  Where did he get the audacity to speak to us in that way?  Doesn't he know who we are?  Doesn't he know what we can do?

Elijah knew who his God was.  The secret of his courage was contained in his statement, "As the Lord God lives, before whom I stand."  He spent time in the presence of the Lord before he faced Ahab.  Elijah was aware of the fact that wherever he was, he stood consciously in the presence of God.

So we too ought to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty (see Psalm 91:1).
