Unfulfilled Promises
By: Rick Boxx
April 25, 2012

A pastor and elder of a church signed an agreement with the bank I was representing, agreeing they would not disclose the terms and conditions of our loan proposal to any other bank. After seeing our proposal, they committed to do their construction loan with us.

A few days later the church leadership changed their mind, because their existing bank had “matched” our deal. When confronted about their violation of disclosing our proposed loan terms, the elder said, “God calls us to be good stewards. We’re staying with our current bank.”

Ecclesiastes 5:5 warns, “It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.”

Many people believe good stewardship is only about money, yet God is concerned just as much about our promises.
