A Slave to the Lender

Mike and Matt developed a healthy business relationship. Even though they were competitors in the same market, Mike and Matt were able to benefit from each other through a strategic relationship.
One day, Mike approached Matt about purchasing a piece of equipment from Matt’s company and requested Matt to finance the purchase.Initially, Matt was in favor of the loan but later had a change of heart when he came across Prov. 22:7.
“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.”
Wanting to maintain the positive relationship, Matt turned down the option to finance the equipment with Mike.Even though Matt could have profited from the agreement, it wasn’t worth the possibility of losing a great friend and strategic business partner.
