The Real Master of My Fate
by Rick Boxx
December 24, 2009

In the movie "Invictus," Nelson Mandela encourages the South Africa rugby team to strive to win the "World Cup." Ultimately the team makes an amazing recovery to win the coveted award.

The movie ends with a quote that Mandela, throughout the show, embraces personally, "I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul." Although Mr. Mandela inspired the rugby team, I left feeling he believed he willed the team's success, rather than understanding that the ability to succeed comes from God.

Jesus taught in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your father who is in Heaven."

If God gives you success in your work, remember to glorify God, not yourself.
