Crossing the Line
By Rick Boxx

February 22, 2011

Selling products or services to someone in the hospital can easily cross an ethical line. According to the Wall Street Journal, 81 year old, Bruce Porter, was recuperating in the hospital from a suspected heart attack, when his life insurance agent showed up.

By the time Mr. Porter's agent had left, Mr. Porter had committed to a complex financial strategy he claims he didn't understand. Mr. Porter lost $690,000 in this transaction, and is now suing his agent.

Was the agent greedy or looking out for his client? Only God knows, but when we have similar opportunities we should remember Ephesians 5:5,

"For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person- such a man is an idolater - has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God."
