Anger and Rebellion
By: Rick Boxx
February 22, 2012

Each week my son, Jeremy, goes swimming with kids from school. Recently, he came down with a cold, so we informed him he wasn’t going swimming.

After using his limited language to disagree unsuccessfully, he exploded with rage. The frustration of his limited communication skills, due to his autism, and the situation, led Jeremy to rebellion through anger, bringing with it consequences for his actions.

James 1:19-20 teaches, “But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.”

Many in business get so angry with governmental regulations that their anger leads to rebellion and unpleasant consequences. If you feel anger rising against someone in authority, remember, anger is rebellion against God, as well.

Timothy Keller’s The Prodigal God

Taking his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity, Timothy Keller uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Within that parable, Jesus reveals God’s prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.
