The Hard Truth

To avoid being a part of perpetuating religious lies, a friend of mine's business refused to take on a new account. How to deliver this difficult news became her next dilemma. My friend's transparency was refreshing. She admitted that each excuse she had considered, would be a lie.
The real issue boiled down to whether or not it was better to tell a lie to avoid offending this company's leaders, or was it better to tell the truth in love, and let the chips fall where they may.
Proverbs 12:22 teaches, "The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful." If you have hard news to deliver, begin with the truth. Don't use excuses that may be overcome, leaving you only with compromise or an admission, you lied.
