According to a study titled, “Religious People Discount the Future Less” researchers discovered that deeply religious people when offered $50 now, versus $100 in six months, were more likely to wait for the bigger reward than non-religious people.
These researchers concluded that delayed gratification, or a willingness to wait, was somehow tied to religious people’s hope in a future salvation. This knowledge could impact the effectiveness of commission and bonus plans.
Romans 8 teaches, “Hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
