A Cord of Three
By: Rick Boxx

My friend, Rod Handley, with “Character that Counts” has been promoting accountability groups for years. He realizes that without peers in our lives holding us accountable, we’re all just one step away from doing something stupid.

A 2011 study conducted by Matthew Brashears, a Cornell assistant professor, discovered that the average person has only two close friends. A lack of close friends can leave us susceptible to moral failure.

When temptations come, “going it alone” can result in poor decisions and long-term consequences.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 teaches, “And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.”

If you desire a life of integrity, find a few close friends and form an accountability group. It may save you from a fall.
