Thankful for the Harvest

Thanksgiving was originally designed to celebrate the harvest. Months after the farmer’s seeds are sown, there are no guarantees as to how big the harvest will be, or what price the crop will bring.
So when harvest time finally comes, the reaping is a reminder of Who we really are dependent upon. For any farmer who has ever lost an entire crop, they inherently are often grateful to God for whatever harvest they reap.
Deuteronomy 16:13 teaches, “Celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered the produce of your threshing floor and your winepress. Be joyful at your festival.”
Although most people, today, reap a harvest more frequently than once a year, it’s important to remember Who to praise for that harvest…God!
