Seething with Revenge

While reading about Walmart and Amazon.com's book pricing war, in the Wall Street Journal, I was reminded of a situation I experienced in banking. In the 1980's many large banks were muscling into my employer's territory, using cheap loan pricing to build market share.
When our fiercest competitor enticed a long time customer away with ridiculously low rates, it became personal for our CEO. He seethed with revenge.
He declared war on that specific competitor, proclaiming that we would undercut any deal they were bidding on, even if we lost money.
Romans 12:19 teaches "Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay,' says the Lord.
Competition can be healthy, but revenge can be toxic.
