Understanding Civil Disobedience-Part III
By: Rick Boxx
October 7, 2015

This week we’re discussing God’s view on civil disobedience. Although, in general, God requires us to obey our authorities, there are exceptions.

In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are sentenced to death by King Nebuchadnezzar because they will not worship his golden image. These men were committed to only worship God.

In verse 17 these three men told the king that their God could deliver them, “But even if he does not, they said, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

God miraculously preserved these men even though they disobeyed their king. God desires us to obey our authorities, but not if they demand we worship other gods. Eternal rewards will follow our obedience!
