More about Boundaries

Today's Scripture

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." - (2 Timothy 3:16 NLT)

Thoughts for Today

How can we learn to stay within God's boundaries for us? Today's Scripture answers that question clearly. God inspired all Scripture to teach us what is true, what the boundaries are. Scripture reveals to us what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do right.

Today let's look at just of few verses that teach us about God's boundaries.

Consider this …

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. (1 John 5:3 NLT)

This verse shows us that if we truly love God, we will stay within his boundaries by keeping his commandments. It also encourages us that his commandments will not be burdensome. Quite the opposite. Think about this next passage:

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them. (Psalm 19:7-11 NLT)

His boundaries bring joy and so much more! Read that passage again. And he even promises to help us stay within the boundaries. Make this your prayer:

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. (Psalm 143:10 NLT)

Even knowing that God's boundaries are a blessing, we will sometimes struggle to walk within them. We will sometimes drift out of his will. But he will not forsake us when that happens. If we recognize our sin and confess it to him, he will forgive us and help us return to the safety of living within his boundaries.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:9 NLT)

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the boundaries you have given us—all designed to honor you and bring us blessing. I will be more faithful to meditate on your Word so I will understand and remember those boundaries. May the Holy Spirit lead me and strengthen me step by step so my life will be more pleasing to you. In Jesus' name . . .
