The power of humility - part 1

Acts 16:27-28: The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!" (NIV).

When the earthquake caused the prison doors to open, Paul and Silas humbled themselves by refusing to take their freedom and run. In response, the jailer fell trembling before them and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

Never underestimate the power of a humble heart to influence others for the Lord—especially your children! We often feel like we have to prove we are right or have everything figured out to gain their respect. We tend to see vulnerability as weakness. However, when we are confident of who we are in Christ, it is much easier to demonstrate humility.

Modeling humility will be much more influential to your kids than hiding behind a false sense of self-sufficiency and perfection.
