1 Kings 18:1-18 After many days the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth"...
Elijah instructs Obadiah, a god fearing man who works for king Ahab, to deliver the message to Ahab that Elijah was back and wants a meeting. (Now remember, Ahab wants to kill Elijah because of the drought Elijah declared across the land three years earlier. He's been feverously searching for Elijah but has had no success.) Elijah's request scares Obadiah because he knows how angry king Ahab is and that delivering this message could possibly lead to his death. But Obadiah also knows that Elijah is God's prophet and that he is delivering God's message. So he does what Elijah asks.
