Grieving King

Today's reading: 2 Samuel 12:15-31

As David's first son with Bathsheba takes ill, David is heartbroken, distressed and grief-stricken because he has already been told by Nathan that the child is going to die. But after he receives word of his son's death, David's thinking and behavior completely change. Instead of continuing to mourn, David gets up, washes, anoints himself, changes his clothes, worships God and then eats. He recognizes that God is in control, and takes comfort in the fact that he will see his son again in heaven (vs. 23). David then turns his focus back to the tasks at hand, comforting Bathsheba and taking charge of his army.

What did you see or learn about grieving, death and/or God's sovereignty from this passage? Tami
