Truth Handler

today's reading.
2 Timothy 2  You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also...

the blog.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."

Paul issues the charge to be good workers in 2 Timothy 2:15. This whole verse spoke loudly to me, but especially the last six words--rightly handling the word of truth. As I thought about that phrase, it hit me that for me (or you) to rightly handle any task, job or activity (driving a car, playing an instrument or sports, cutting hair, managing finances, etc.) requires familiarity and repeated interaction and practice with whatever it is I'm doing. Well, the same is true with God's Word. The only way I can accomplish "rightly handling the word of truth" is for me to be consistently engaging God's Word, that is receiving it, reflecting on it and then responding to it.

So as we start this new year, how are you doing in the area of Bible engagement? What are you doing so that you can "present yourself to God as one approved. . .rightly handling the word of truth"?Tami
