Judges 6:11-24 Now the angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites...
God's ways are not our ways was the message that came across to me from Judges 6:11-24. Here's Gideon in hiding, beating out wheat for food when the angel of the Lord appears and addresses him as "O mighty man of valor" (vs. 12), and then tells Gideon in verse 14 "Go in this might of yours and save Israel." Well Gideon isn't buying that he's "mighty" and he's not convinced he's going to be able to save Israel. But the Lord knows otherwise. Verse 16 tells us "And the Lord said to him 'But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man." I love it!
So what does this passage show us about God? What do Gideon's actions and words reveal about our "human" thinking? Tami
