Power Point - August 22, 2005

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

--1 Corinthians 6:19-20

I once heard someone say, “It is not what men eat but what they digest that makes them strong. Not what we gain but what we save that makes us rich; not what we read but what we remember that makes us learned; not what we preach but what we practice that makes us Christians.”

If many believers were honest, they would probably say, “I believe in Jesus Christ, I love Him, I know He’s forgiven me of my sins, and I’m sure that I’m going to heaven. But I’m having a hard time living the Christian life Monday through Saturday. I have every good intention, but somehow I’m struggling to make the Christian faith work for me consistently.”

If you feel this way—you are not alone. Countless Christians struggle with this. So why are people struggling? I believe it’s because so many have never discovered the truth in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

The Bible describes three kinds of people: natural man (man or woman who does not have a relationship with God), spiritual man (man or woman who knows Christ abundantly), and the carnal Christian man (man or woman who knows Christ, but is spiritually immature and isn’t much different than the non-believer). Do you know which category you’re in?

If you are wondering if the Christian life is all that it’s cracked up to be and you just can’t seem to get your Christian faith to work for you, then the solution comes straight from the Word of God. DAILY, we must pick up the cross and follow Christ! If you’re going to make the Christian life work for you, you must be alive and alert to the Holy Spirit’s presence in you. Our authority, vitality, purity, security, and productivity are in the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit within us. Ask God to make you alive in the Spirit!

MANY CHRISTIANS HAVE BEEN TO CALVARY FOR PARDON,

BUT THEY’VE NEVER BEEN TO THE EMPTY TOMB FOR POWER.
