Power Point - Dec. 25, 2006

December 25, 2006

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

--John 1:1

Today I want to invite you to take a moment to reflect on what makes the birth of Jesus unique from every other.

First, we need to remember that even though Jesus is the eternal God, He was born as a baby here on earth. But more than that, He was born of a virgin, a truth that no one before or after Him can claim.

Now, you might wonder if it really matters that Jesus was virgin-born. Absolutely! If Christ had been born the same way as everyone else, He would have no claim to be of God. John said Christ existed as God before time began—a statement of His eternal pre-existence as co-equal with God the Father…hence the power of the virgin birth!

If there was human blood running through the veins of Jesus, He would have just been another child born to a poor Jewish family in first-century Israel. But there was heavenly blood running through His body! Praise God, because the virgin birth of Christ opens heaven for us.

What a glorious story, the infant, eternal God in the arms of young Mary. Yes, the birth of Jesus was supernatural! God became man that He might purchase our salvation!

TAKE TIME TODAY TO THANK GOD FOR JESUS CHRIST, HEAVEN’S GREATEST GIFT TO US.
