Power Point - January 31, 2005

…the Lord spoke to Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant saying: “My servant Moses is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all of this people, to the land which I am giving to them. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you…

-Joshua 1:1-3

Every now and then we come across people with great promise. A coach sees the athletic ability of a young person and potential of becoming a great athlete through skill, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. So the coach invests in that young man or young woman, and they become an All-American.  All because someone saw their possibility, someone saw their promise.

Even those of us who are pastors or minister can see young people with the promise for full-time Christian ministry because they are of the highest quality, character, and caliber. I truly believe it is one of God’s highest callings. And if God taps them on the shoulder and points them toward ministry, they accept it gladly entering into Christian service both humbled and amazed that God would call them out.

Interestingly enough, God sees promise in every one of His children.  Not just a select few, not just the superstars of the super saints, but every child of God has promise and potential!  And He wants you to live out your full promise and your full potential in the Christian life.

Unfortunately so many Christians today live beneath the promises and underneath the privileges that God has given them.  And the book of Joshua is about claiming, standing on, and living out those promises.  Are you a believer in Jesus Christ?  If you are, then you are a promise and have potential to do great things for the kingdom of God! He’s just waiting on you to accept His call.

GOD IS COMMITTED TO WHAT YOU CAN

BECOME FOR HIS GLORY.
