Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

--1 Peter 2:11-12

We are plagued in this country by pornography. Not just the hard-core kind, but also soft-core, soap operas, prime time television, and secular music. We even have CD’s being sold to young people now that are X-rated. Quite frankly, our culture is a cesspool of filth. There are open container laws in this society and there honestly should be open container laws relative to obscenity.

We’re living in the dirtiest days of human history. Because of our society, I could almost say that there are some of you who are dealing with this issue of pornography and the likes. And if you’re not, still beware. Some are bound by this sin and it’s in danger of devastating their families. Something needs to be done, so that the children of those addicted to this elicit material will not follow down the same path.

As we consider the porno plague, let me remind you that pornography has changed drastically in the last 40 years. I’m not just talking about Playboy magazines — those were bad enough. But the kind being produced today for all eyes to see that is of the most violent, horrific, and damaging known to man. This material is destructive socially because pornography assaults the dignity of both men and women, and portrays women to only be sex objects.

Christians, of all people, should be disgusted by and stand up to this vulgar pornography. Rape and sexual harassment (both major problems) have risen in occurrence because 9 times out of 10 the men who are guilty of these things are also involved in some form of pornography. If you are dealing with this issue or know someone who is, then pray that God would open your heart and mind to the evils of this sin and seek healing from the Lord.

OUR NATION IS BEING CUT TO THE CORE SOCIALLY BY OBSCENITY. GUARD YOUR HEART AND MIND SO YOU WON’T BE FOOLED WHEN IT COMES YOUR WAY.
