Never Forsaken

“Now, O Lord God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said.” - 2 Samuel 7:25

Notice the strength of David’s faith and trust in the Lord. He heard everything the Lord promised him and said, “Okay Lord, I am not worthy, but you have promised to establish my house forever, so do it just as you promised.” Even though he knew he did not earn God’s favor, he was taking God at His Word. He was holding God to His promise. He knew God would be true to His Word.

This is such an amazing lesson to every person who calls themselves a Christian. Many times, people will come for prayer and biblical direction and they believe the Lord has left them. He is seeking to punish them. They are not standing on the promises of God. They are being ripped off by the situations and trials they are in.

Look at David’s life. It was not an easy life. He went through tremendous trials and tribulations. He had to run from Saul for years, after he was anointed the next king of Israel by the Lord. Still, his hope and trust was in the Lord.

I believe David’s faith and hope in the Lord is one of the reasons God gave us David’s life story. He wanted us to know He has great plans for each one of us, individually, but there will be trials along the way. The greatest promise we have is the presence of the Lord in the midst of the trials. He will never leave us or forsake us. Remember, being a Christian is not the easy way; it is the right way.

The grand design of God is all the afflictions that befalls His people is to bring them nearer and closer to Himself.
