Somebody Loves You - March 20

SUNDAY 20 March, 2016

Palm Sunday

The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,  took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessedis He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” - John 12:12-13

Palm Sunday marks the time of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Jesus, in humility, entered into the city on the back of a donkey.  In excitement, the people cried out: “Hosanna, Hosanna”, which means: “Save now.” Like the disciples they too thought He would be setting up His kingdom and destroying the harsh Roman rule they were now under. They did not understand the Scriptures or His mission to die for the sins of the world (John 3:16). Jesus fulfilled biblical prophecy as He entered the city:

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey (Zechariah 9:9).

This prophecy was written hundreds of years prior to its fulfillment. An examination of prophecy concerning Jesus’ life, death and resurrection will strengthen a believer’s faith and convince a non-believer of the truth of God’s existence. What are the chances of these things coming to pass? It would be impossible, only God can fulfill prophecy with one hundred percent accuracy (Numbers 23:19).

It is important to know the Bible is true and can be trusted, fully and completely. Which means Jesus can be trusted to save us from the lake of fire; an eternal separation from God in utter darkness.

I ask again, have you, by faith, made a decision to accept Christ as your Savior?

Much of the Bible is devoted to prediction. Nothing God has yet done for us can compare with all that is written in the sure word of prophecy.
