Unfailing Love | Psalm 62:7-12

Todayís Passage: Psalm 62:7-12
Key Verses: Psalm 62:7-8

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

When I was in seminary I had a pastor who became my mentor. He was a great leader, preacher and husband/father. I thought the world of this man who took the time to mentor me. My third year of seminary, he moved to a larger church in another state. Then I heard the all too familiar story. He had an affair and left his family. My former mentor is no longer in ministry.

We all have our stories of people who disappointed us. Maybe for you it was a family member, mate or close friend. We learn the hard way that humans are human after all. We cannot depend on a person to give what only God can provide. David warns us not to set our hearts on anyone or anything other than God.

God alone is the ìrock,î ìsalvationî and ìfortress.î Power belongs to him alone. His love never fails us. We can pour out our hearts to him and he hears. We can lay our requests before him and he acts. We can trust him at all times. He alone is our unshakeable refuge.

Father, help me to never seek from people or things what I can find only in you. In Jesusí name. Amen.
