God’s Word Implants Confidence | 2 Samuel 22:31

2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

God never makes a mistake. He never needs a mulligan. He never asks for a do-over. His instruction is impeccable. His plans are perfect. His future for you is faultless. Our confidence is in knowing that God shields us as we run to him for refuge in times of trial.

Challenging times are not the only way our faith can be exercised and our confidence increased. George Mueller reminds us that the daily reading of God’s flawless Word is essential for learning and experiencing God’s character. Mueller writes,

There is the reading of the Scriptures, that we may by them acquaint ourselves with God as He has revealed Himself in His Word.

Are you able to say, from the acquaintance you have made with God, that He is a lovely Being? If not, let me affectionately entreat you to ask God to bring you to this, that you may admire His gentleness and kindness, that you may be able to say how good He is, and what a delight it is to the heart of God to do good to His children.

Take the time to read God’s Word and learn that he is, indeed, a “lovely Being.” Then, when you run to him for refuge, you’ll be able to experience what you have learned.

Father, give us the desire to read your flawless Word and learn that your way is perfect before we need to experience that truth in challenging times. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
