Living Hope | 1 Peter 1:20-21 | Devotional

1 Peter 1:20-21 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

So God created Adam and Eve and put them in the perfect environment of the garden. Then, in Genesis 3, they ate from the tree and sin entered into the world. And God said, “Oh no! Now what do I do? I have to come up with another plan.” Not at all! God knew before creation that it would be necessary for Jesus to redeem humans.

Even though there was a point in history when Jesus walked on earth and went to the cross, “he was chosen before the creation of world.” The sovereign God is never taken by surprise. He is a God of omniscient eternality. There has never been a time when he was not; there will never be a time when he is not. And through it all, he is all-knowing! Try to grasp that truth with your finite mind.

I love Peter’s conclusion, “so your faith and hope are in God.” In other words, this is a God you can trust!

Father, you are beyond what I can even begin to comprehend. Thank you for making the way to you so clear and understandable. Today, whatever it brings, my faith and hope are in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
