The Journey with Ron Moore

I AM ... The Resurrection | John 11:40

John 11:40
Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"

Jesus stood before the tomb of Lazarus and said, “Take away the stone.” Can you imagine? Lazarus had been dead for four days, and in the warm Palestine climate, his body was starting to decompose. Martha couldn’t stand the thought. “But, Lord,” Lazarus’ sister said, “by this time there is a bad odor.” I love the King James translation here, “by this time he stinketh.”

“But Lord….” How many times does that come from our mouths when we stand with Jesus? But, Lord, I know your power, but my marriage stinketh. But, Lord, I know your power, but I am tired of being single…I am going to do things my way. But, Lord, it doesn’t matter if I need it; I want it. But, Lord,…(you finish the statement).

Then Jesus turns to us and says the same thing he told Martha. Don’t you remember my word…my promise? “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” Jesus does amazing things. Trust him and he will turn things that stinketh in to things that shine for his glory. Do you believe that?

Lord Jesus, thank you for taking my sinful heart in the process of spiritual decomposition and transforming it in a new heart that beats with yours. Thank you for taking the odor out of my life and replacing it with the sweet smell of your sacrifice. In your name. Amen.
