Ignite! | Psalm 27:7-14 | Devotional

Psalm 27:7-14 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence. I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Waiting…. That’s often the toughest part.

Waiting for the results from last week’s tests…. Waiting for the doctors to return from surgery… Waiting to hear back about the job… Waiting for your children to come back home… Waiting for him to say, “I’m sorry”… Waiting for her to say she didn’t mean to hurt you… Waiting for the right “somebody” to show up in your life… Waiting for the chemo to be completed… Waiting for the big promotion… Waiting for the right opportunity… Waiting for the contract that will turn your fledgling company around…

Waiting…can be the toughest part.

So follow the instruction of David.

Wait…and pray…pour your heart out to Him. Wait…and be strong…don’t let the wait weaken your resolve. Wait…and take heart…God is in control!

Wait for your heart to be ignited by the living God.
