The Journey with Ron Moore

Ignite! | Deuteronomy 4:29 | Devotional

Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

My favorite hiding place was in the back of a closet. Covered by hanging clothes and a box or two I was hard to find. My anticipation of being concealed when I heard them shout “8…9…10…Ready or not! Here I come!” usually gave way to the uncomfortable position, sweat running down my back, itching clothes hanging on my face, and breathing the musty air of a closet. It was a great hide and seek place. I was seldom found. (You know, I am sitting here wondering these many years later if they even looked for me. I had some pretty mean friends!)

Hide and Seek is a game God never plays. He stays in the open. He points the way to himself. From the mountain ranges he shouts, “Here I am!” In the oceans He declares, “Here I am!” In the lightning bolts of the heavens He proclaims His presence. He sent His Son to explain the way and then make the way to Himself. The cross standing on a hill for all to see cries, “I Am!” But you can miss the most visible thing in all creation if you are not looking for it.

So, look for Him with all your heart. Desire Him with all your soul. And when you do, get ready! He’s going to ignite the fire!
