The Journey with Ron Moore

More Than Words | Matthew 6:33 | Devotional

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Most people, even believers, live for the stuff. Not bad stuff, but stuff nonetheless. The right career. The right home. The right location. The right school. The right activities for the kids. The right social group. The right retirement plan. The right weekend activities. The right get-a-ways. All the right stuff…just in the wrong order. When we live for stuff, at the end of the day, that’s exactly what we have…a bunch of stuff. Jesus says—flip the order.

The order that Jesus puts forward focuses first on the spiritual. Seek living by kingdom principles—loving God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and your neighbor as yourself. Determine to live in obedience—making the necessary sacrifices to live in a right relationship with God and man. Then, with your spiritual head screwed on straight, God will give you the stuff that is really the right stuff.

Don’t worry about ordering all your priorities. Just put God first. He’ll take care of the rest.

Father, as we seek you first today, give the needed evidence that you really will take care of the other stuff. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
