Time with God - June 16, 2010

Wednesday 16th June

Matthew 6:25-34

Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?' or ‘What will we drink?' or ‘What will we wear for clothing?' For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (vv. 31-33)

When you put God first in your life and follow His call, you never need to be anxious about money!

That statement sounds ludicrous to our secular mindset, doesn't it? It sounds irresponsible. How can I say such a thing?

Read the last sentence of the verses above again. Isn't that exactly what God is saying to you today? He isn't saying, "Don't work hard". Nor is He saying, "Don't prepare for the future"; or "Don't pay your bills"; or "Don't provide for your family". But He is saying, "Do not worry"—don't be anxious!

Read the following statement very carefully and take it in: When you put God and His work in this world first in your life, then God takes responsibility for providing for your needs. God does not promise to provide your needs if you do not put Him first. You are rightly anxious if that is the case.

But if you have put Him first in your life and are willing to wait for Him, He will provide your needs. He's promised!
