Faith Requires Practice
Philippians 4:9 (NIV®)
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.
We as disciples are called to be practitioners of our faith. “Church” language works against us, though, because we’ve been taught that church is something we “attend.” Our faith is not something we “attend”—we don’t go to watch Christianity like we watch a ball game. But we’ve brought that mentality to our faith-life, and we’ve imagined that the objective is to sit on the sidelines and evaluate. That is not biblical. Church isn’t about a building. Church isn’t what happens behind a podium. We are the Church—you and me—and we are to take everything we experience inside the church building and put it into practice outside the church building.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your church throughout the earth. Strengthen Your Church to preach the gospel and to hold fast to Your promises. Provide wide and effectual doors for Your believers to tell about You in all circumstances. In Jesus’ name, amen.
