Solid and Sure

Hebrews 12:28-29 (NIV®)

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Scripture says that the Kingdom of God cannot be shaken—not will not be shaken, but cannot be shaken. And we’re invited to a perspective that the Kingdom of God is the only stable thing we can invest ourselves in. So here’s the challenge for Christ-followers: Imagine yourself beneath the umbrella of the church of Jesus Christ. You are not just religious, but you have chosen to yield your life to the authority of Jesus Christ. If your life choices, your dreams, your passions, your hopes—if they are indistinguishable from people outside the Kingdom of God, then you will have invested yourself in things that are going to be shaken. To the degree that you invest yourself in the Kingdom of God, you are participating in something that cannot be shaken.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are my Strong Tower, my first and last source of trust and security. Show me Your Kingdom purposes, Lord, and give me wisdom to align my hopes and dreams and plans with Your purposes for my life. Help me to speak Your truth faithfully so that I will help others pursue their own callings in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
