It Won't be Long until You Know You Belong - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of June 21
“IT WON’T BE LONG UNTIL YOU KNOW YOU BELONG.”
There is a universal lie every woman has heard, “You don’t belong.” I think it started in Kindergarten at the finger-painting station. Now, it seems to whisper and yell at us in our roles as daughters, friends, wives, and moms. When God first told me to teach a women’s Bible study, I was terrified. I didn’t realize it then, but I was scared that the women would find out that I wasn’t fit to lead. Later, I found out that many women don’t ever attempt to connect with other women because they are terrified they won’t fit in anyway. The result has been a lot of lied to isolated women; this cycle preserves the lie and maintains prison walls around our hearts and lives.
But boy do I have a story for you! So, you know how God told me to teach? Well, even though I was scared, I was more scared of being disobedient to God than I was of being rejected by women - so I led. Four women showed up in my living room. We didn’t know each other from Adam, but we all got a cup of coffee, prayed, and began sharing. We soon found out we were all tired women who had believed a lie. We found out that we do belong! We had the same struggles and we were all imperfect messes. It was so refreshing! Our little mess of four women has grown to a big wonderful mess of many women who unite and encourage one another through the Word and through community. Whenever we see a women who seems isolated and alone, we ask her to join us and we say, “C’mon over; it won’t be long until you know you belong!”
