A Different Spirit
"But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it." (Numbers 14:24, NASB95)
Caleb's "different spirit" was one of trust in God's Word and unflinching faithfulness to God's task. It is a rare spirit, indeed!
When God analyzes and evaluates your spirit, is it different from the spirit of others around you? I am certainly not qualified to evaluate spirits, but in simple observation I see that the spirit of many believers and of many churches is not largely different from that of other individuals or organizations around them. Rare is that believer who is so thrilled with God's Word that it is sprinkled in all his coversations. On an organizational level, many churches are sadly service organizations that provide fellowship and education (mostly the former) for a group of people that all look alike.
Is God looking on the American church and asking, "Where is the different spirit?" The spirit He is looking for is His Spirit, which produces a very specific fruit.
Is your Spirit different?
