Focus on What You Know
Dr. Randy White
“So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, ‘Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.’”(Acts 1:6-8; NASB95)
Jesus’ Disciples were always interested in the restoration of the Kingdom of Israel and the throne of David. They eagerly awaited the Messiah to bring such restoration. Though their hopes were dashed at the crucifixion, they became excited again when Jesus showed the “convincing proofs” (Acts 1:3) of His resurrection. Still desiring the establishment of the earthly kingdom, they asked, “Is it time?”
There is no doubt that Jesus will, at a time in the future, “restore the kingdom to Israel.” This is clear from the prophecies of both the Old and New Testaments. Both Israel and the true church anticipate the return of those days of glory. At that time, “all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11:26).
I, too, would like to know the timing of this coming great event. However, Jesus told His disciples, “It is not for you to know times or epochs.” With this truth, He told them what to focus on: “you will receive power…you shall be my witnesses.”
I know that Christ will return and will establish the throne of David and the Kingdom of Israel. I do not know when this will happen. So, my focus must be what He has instructed me to do: be an empowered witness to a lost world.
Join me, in an army for world conquest, spreading the Word of the Savior, until He comes!
