A Visit from Jesus
Dr. Randy White
“But on the night immediately following, the Lord stood at his side and said, ‘Take courage; for as you have solemnly witnessed to My cause at Jerusalem, so you must witness at Rome also.’” (Acts 23:11,)
After Paul was arrested in Jerusalem and barely escaped with his life, Jesus Himself appeared to Paul and encouraged him! Paul could remain confident in his future, at least until he was able to testify of Christ in Rome. This confidence would strengthen Paul and embolden his speech in the trial to come before King Agrippa.
You and I have not had this experience. Jesus does not visibly appear before us and outline the future. Our task is to walk by faith in the Words of God recorded in the Word of God, the Bible. If you wait for a mystical appearance of the Lord to give you instruction or encouragement, you will likely never find either. However, if you will open the Bible, develop your Christian doctrine, and then live according to Biblical doctrinal principles, then you will find your actions to be in obedience with the Lord.
Become doctrinally literate! Your doctrine will be the guiding hand of the Lord at your side. It will give you confidence, direction, and encouragement. If you are doctrinally deficient, you will be timid, worried, and wandering.
In His Grace,
Dr. Randy White
