Bankruptcy: Two Sides of the Coin – the Borrower and the Lender

God’s word addresses both the borrower and the lender and the issue of debt forgiveness and obligation to pay back what we borrowed.

So how are we instructed to behave if we are a borrower? It’s simple. We ought to repay what we borrowed.

Psalm 37:21 says: “The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives.”

>Ecclesiastes 5:5 tells us: “It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. “

If you are a lender, God’s word encourages us to exercise grace and forgiveness.

"At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the LORD's release" >Deuteronomy 15:1-2
