Is the Reformation Over?

Post by Ambient_Riot

TDWied,

Your arguments are quite frankly, ridiculous. First and foremost, you attack Mr. Sproul's motivation and his character, a little something called a logical fallacy.

Secondly, simply because Sproul supports Luther's conclusion regarding the biblical teaching of salvation by grace and faith alone, does not mean that he supports Luther's denial of the Book of James and any addition to scripture. He is not required to put a disclaimer warning that he disagrees with Luther because he did this or that as quite frankly, it's common sense. He's addressing a specific issue.

Finally, your arguments defending Catholic practices such as praying to dead are lacking any scriptural, and for that matter, rational support. The spirits of the dead are not omnipresent nor omniscient, so they have no way of 'hearing' you in the first place. Asking your buddy, who is alive and well and right beside you is totally different.

Fox News ISN'T News; It's So Much More

Post by Ambient_Riot

Right. You and the others who attempt to discredit FOX News are incapable of providing rational argument and presenting credible evidence for your position.

The fact of the matter is, FOX News presents both fair and honest reporting, and conservative commentary. Simply because you disagree with commentators like Glenn Beck, does not justify slandering the credibility of an entire network.
Marriage is not a civil rights issue. From the beginning of time, marriage has been defined as between a man and a woman, not a man and a man or a woman and a woman.

Do I believe men and women who are homosexual should be protected from discrimination? Yes, they should not be hindered in pursuing secular careers and any attempts to do so should be punished.

However, the purposed legislation would even require religious institutions to hire homosexual individuals despite fundamental doctrinal and moral disagreement.

As for Scriptural arguments being outdated, you need to actually read your Bible, rather than listen to liberal theologians who attempt to warp the Word.

Your attempts to paint me as a hate monger are worthless.
President Barack Obama sickens me. This is a man who claims to be a Christian yet willingly supports such morally repugnant measures.

Is holding fast to the truth of the Bible an old attitude, and appealing to the authority of scripture an outworn argument?

I can only hope that he will repent, lest the United States entice the wrath of God, and we suffer greater destruction than even Sodom and Gomorrah.

The Nobel Committee Dishonors Itself

Post by Ambient_Riot

Would conservatives complain if George W. Bush received the Nobel Prize? Of course not, because George W. Bush was in office for over 8 years and instituted various policies which has made both our nation and the world safer.

The fact of the matter is, however, conservatives are not dismayed by who received the award, but when and why he received it. Barack Obama was nominated for the Nobel Prize less than two weeks after his inauguration when he had done little more than give a speech or two.

Second, as for Barack Obama caring more for the working class American than George W. Bush, you need to stop listening to his speeches and pay more attention to his actual policies. He has more than doubled our deficit after less than a year in office, and continues to support highly expensive policies like Cap and Trade and a Government-Option for health care. The money has to come from somewhere, and it sure isnt from his pocket.

Republicans Still Ignoring Real Conservatives

Post by Ambient_Riot

The GOP demonizes homosexuals in America? Yeah right. You people need to learn that opposing immoral behaviors is not the same as opposing those who engage in such practices.

The fact of the matter is, homosexuals and their misguided supporters cannot make a case, so they resort to abusive ad hominem attacks as above, throwing insults and labeling anyone who disagrees with them as homophobic or hateful.

Condoning What God Cannot: The President and the Innocent

Post by Ambient_Riot

Think about the woman? Please, abortion isn't about the woman. Abortion is about the intentional murder of the most innocent of human beings.

Let me put your logic in it's place.

Say Joe is unable to love and care for his elderly parents, so he decides to murder them both while they sleep. In any court of law in America, this man would be charged with murder and sentenced to life in prison, despite the financial and emotional motivation behind the action.

Now, Mary Jane was raped and is pregnant. She does not want the child because she would be unable to love him or her, and cannot handle the burden. Okay, simple solution; put the child up for adoption. But of course not, because that would leave the mother guilty, thinking she abandoned her baby. Better to let her delude herself into thinking it isn't a person and murder an infant while in the womb.

This isn't about the woman, it's about the child.

Are Young Americans "Losing Their Religion"?

Post by Ambient_Riot

Return to the Gospel? The fact of the matter is, 'right-wing' politics is the only reason homosexuals cannot sue a Christian ministry for refusing a position because they object to an immoral life style, 'right-wing' politics is the only reason churches and ministries have not lost their tax exempt status, 'right-wing' politics is the only voice that opposes the complete secularization of the United States of America.

The fact of the matter is, these 'nones' are left-wingers and centrists who most likely oppose traditional Christian morality as ancient and irrelevant.

We don't need more false Christians in our pews, we have enough already, so please, keep your so-called revival to yourself. If you want to spark a revival, instead of removing the support of the only force between us and another USSR, engage in Apologetics.

In fact, read Already Gone by Ken Ham. He reveals the true reason why Americans are leaving the church, and it has nothing to do with 'right-wing' politics.

Homosexuality: Know the Truth and Speak It with Compassion

Post by Ambient_Riot

I must say, it seems to me that you try to understand homosexuals more than you try to understand Jesus. Jesus did not congregate with unrepentant sinners, he communed with those who turned their backs upon their old ways and believed in Him. Those who heard his message and rejected it, he to rejected and shamed amidst the masses.

Who cares if homosexuals are becoming mainstream? Pharisees anyone?

The Rise of Extreme Tolerance

Post by Ambient_Riot

I must say, I agree with the premise of this article; that postmodernism and relativistic tolerance has become a scourge upon the church.

However, the article's would-be defense of 'preaching' is as threatening as a toothless tiger. Preaching, were the pastor listens to himself talk for 30 minutes before closing up shop, isn't biblical at all.

Jesus' sermons invited people to think through use of parables, and he encouraged questions. In today's church, however, if you question the pastor, your considered a heretic or worse.

It's a false dichotomy between two extremes. One where questioning is frowned upon, and another where standing for truth is hated.
