I attend a baptist church but have admired Martin Luther for having the courage to stand up to a very corrupt power. One of the biggest powers of that day which made His life very miserable. Nevertheless he conformed his will to Bible teaching and said, "here I stand I can do no other." That is how everyone who claim Christ's name should comport themselves. Conscious means nothing if it doesn't reflect the correct.
Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost not to make everyone rich. If we follow his instructions on using our money He will provide our needs, not greeds, but we have our part to do. Mal 3:10 Bring all the tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. And test Me now with this, says Jehovah of Hosts, to see if I will not open the windows of Heaven for you, and pour out a blessing for you, until there is not enough room. The church is His storehouse not television or radio ministries.
I just want to remind you of what Jesus says in Jn. 10:10, "The thief comes not but to steel, kill, and destroy, I am come that they might have life and might have it abundantly."
Just about the time you have this Christian thing figured out God shows you something about Himself that throws an entirely different light. The Christian life is ever changing and growing if in fact a person quits the maturing process he begins the dying process.
The author said it. Homosexuality is on the same level as gluttony and I can't tell you the number of pastors I've seen come to a potluck dinner and sit down with a plate that needed side boards.
Jesus said that He did not come to alter or abolish the Law and the Prophets but to fulfill an indeed He has. The various sacrifices are no longer necessary, for Jesus is our ultimate Sacrifice, the Levitical Laws were meant to point us toward Jesus. Since there is no way that we can ever achieve God's standard there has got to be another Way and that Way is Jesus. If we believe in Jesus and trust His righteousness then we are clothed with that righteousness and His acts become ours. That does not alleviate our resounsibility for obedience though. Jesus did say, "If you love Me you will keep my commandments." and Jesus did command that we should tithe. You can deny it. Your salvation isn't going to be affected by it but Jesus did command tithing.
I think the Apostle Paul said it best when he said if I or anyone else preach to you a gospel other than what you originally received let them be accursed.
