If one of your goals is to lose your love handles and firm up your abdomen, here's a tip: Don't waste your money on those nifty exercise gadgets that muscle-bound marketeers are hawking via television infomercials.
According to a recent study directed by Dr. William C. Whiting, a specialist in biomechanics at California State University in Northridge, these devices provide no overall advantage, as compared to the old fashioned crunches. In fact, the only thing they seemed to help people shed was about $75 to $120 for the equipment.
So pull up a piece of carpet, put your hands on top of your head, and start exercising.
