Our children are 100% protected because they do not use MySpace at all.
We home school our kids because we do not want them to be influenced at all by the immoral teachings present in some public school settings.
We do not allow them access to MySpace for the same reasons. Just because an opportunity or technology exists, doesn't mean that it should be used.
Israel wanted a human king over them, so they could receive the benefit of having a king like the other nations. There were some earthly benefits to having that earthly king, but those benefits did not outweigh the potential (turned actual) spirital downside.
MySpace may have some earthly benefits, but the same benefits can be attained without MySpace and its potential dangers.
