I have a BA from Baylor University (on full scholarship), an on-line Masters degree from Troy University, and I am currently attending a Top 20 law school. I know well the disadvantages of distance learning. I would urge my brothers and sisters in Christ to forgo distance learning and attend real schools, most especially the top schools. I don't have enough space to list all the benefits, but here are two: 1) being challenged by top professors at the leading edge of their fields, and 2) engaging in debate with some of the sharpest minds in the world. Christians are doing us all a great disservice by choosing mediocre programs with substandard professors. Why not just be diligent and put in the effort it takes to score in the top 10% of the SAT's? I did. It just takes focus and effort. The author should encourage her child to spend her energy on mastering the SAT. It will greatly benefit her later in life to have wrestled academically with the sharpest minds in the world.
