My daughters have gained the same benefits - and more - from participating in NCFCA - the homeschool speech and debate league.
They don't have the natural beauty that Miss Wright was given, yet they have been able to succeed in competition that has challenged them to improve more than their speaking skills, make-up techniques, and ability to be in front of people. They have learned to delight in researching current events and history as they prepare for debate topics and speeches. They have learned to discuss difficult issues with intelligent opponents with grace, feminity, and logic. Apologics has caused them to read theological books and dig into Scripture to defend their faith, and all of the limited preparation events have taught them to present a coherent speech that is interesting, well-organized, and persuasive with only minutes of preparation.
They have learned that with hard work and preparation, one's appearance and natural looks have nothing to do with success.

I'm not impressed with this worldly writer, and less so with Crosswalk's decision to publish this drivel.
