As a preschool teacher, a christian and a parent I feel this article is sadly lopsided.
Not all children in America from from perfect homes.I work with children such as these on a daily basis. For you to suggest just anyone can work with children and a degree is not a must...you are very misunderstood about the importance of giving our children(meaning the unlucky children w/o good homes and parental figures) of giving them the very best.
Parents SHOULD be the number one teacher and educators SHOULD recognize this and work with parents...BUT what about those children that dont have parents that fill that role? MANY children in our school system deal with this..its our job to move forward and find ways to be a voice for them and educate them, they deserve it.
Your supposed MYTHS simply show your bias and lack of awareness of the real world you live in where many children live in broken stressful homes where the child comes last. Sad, but VERY true.
